This post is a small way to say thank you to the men and women who serve their communities through Boys and Girls Clubs. I have been blessed to have a good relationship with them for over six years. I have worked in these facilities, sharing the Good News with many of the children who attend these aftercare programs: East Unit on Lexington, Isaac Lane Technology Magnet School, Lincoln Courts, Allenton Heights, Brownsville, and Humboldt.
If you are not aware of what the Boys and Girls Club does with youth, here is the official national vision: Provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
Allow me to add some personal commentary. This is what I have seen in these wonderful community centers:
Naturally, I have seen a lot more over the years and this relationship has helped me to understand and embrace the whole community. I am grateful for the ministry relationship that we have with B&G Clubs. As a CEF staff person in the state, I am but one director who works with B&G Clubs. I believe I can speak for my colleagues and say we all appreciate the opportunity to share Good News with children who attend B&G Clubs.
Now, let me say something about the local site leaders and directors that I know in West Tennessee. Mrs. Sabrina, Mrs. Gladys, Mrs. April, Mrs. Yolanda, Mr. Flomont, and Mr. Jones… God bless you for the work you do with the children of the communities you serve. I know you don’t hear this enough… “You are appreciated.” There are several more workers that serve alongside those I mentioned. I mentioned the site leaders and directors simply because I have worked more closely with them for several years at this point.
Wrapping this up, I’ll exit with a phrase-type I learned from my ministry friend, Sabrina Anderson… “Happy Saturday! God bless you!” I’ve included a few photos below to show you a little of what I see.
