September 22nd, 2012… this was the day when we held our 5th annual Hispanic outreach event. It was held on the grounds of FBC Medina in cooperation with Chapel Hill BC. This ministry was birthed a few years ago when the Lord placed a need on my heart and the heart of a few other men to start a ministry to reach the Hispanic community around us in Gibson County. It is an interesting story of faith and the providence of God. This is not an easy ministry and in some ways it reminds me of Romani ministry. After Dawn and I became involved with overseas missions, this ministry was taken over by Jason & Isabel Hance. They were indeed a God-send and have done a good job shepherding this group for 5 years. On “this” day, the event was well received and we had several interesting facets included. An outstanding vocalist sang, we had 2 Hispanic pastors from the immediate area join us, and the Gideons presented Spanish New Testaments to everyone. Jason also presented a clear Gospel message to the group in their heart language. Jason, thank you and Isabel for continuing on with this ministry even through the difficult times. God will bless you for it!

In my world, the Christian community specifically, there is a lot of negative commentary these days about how the youth of our country have become mouthpieces for a culture of corruption and rebelliousness. Honestly, some of that commentary is well deserved. Let us remember though, that rebellion and “fighting against the man” has been a…

I am sure that you have heard the old adage, “Be careful, it’s a jungle out there.” That is such a true statement… for many reasons. Life can sometimes seem like an old Tarzan movie. I am amazed at how social programming has stuck with so many people. This morning, I was shopping with my dear wife for our normal weekly groceries and household items. You can probably guess where we were shopping from the photo used in the header. My commentary is not designed to condemn this retail establishment…

Yesterday was a good day. I changed my regular “personal ministry” day to Tuesday in order to allow me to celebrate my birthday with Dawn and eat, etc. Monday would have been my Mission Jackson fast day, but I moved it to Tuesday. That concluded my current commitment of prayer and fasting for Mission Jackson….
