September 22nd, 2012… this was the day when we held our 5th annual Hispanic outreach event. It was held on the grounds of FBC Medina in cooperation with Chapel Hill BC. This ministry was birthed a few years ago when the Lord placed a need on my heart and the heart of a few other men to start a ministry to reach the Hispanic community around us in Gibson County. It is an interesting story of faith and the providence of God. This is not an easy ministry and in some ways it reminds me of Romani ministry. After Dawn and I became involved with overseas missions, this ministry was taken over by Jason & Isabel Hance. They were indeed a God-send and have done a good job shepherding this group for 5 years. On “this” day, the event was well received and we had several interesting facets included. An outstanding vocalist sang, we had 2 Hispanic pastors from the immediate area join us, and the Gideons presented Spanish New Testaments to everyone. Jason also presented a clear Gospel message to the group in their heart language. Jason, thank you and Isabel for continuing on with this ministry even through the difficult times. God will bless you for it!

This is a bit of a different posting. It is not designed to alarm anyone. Rather, I hope it will educate you on what foreign-service missionaries often deal with. I don’t suppose there is a specific term or syndrome to designate to the problem, but it can best be described by a sudden feeling of…

Preacher, Broaden the Circle
If you are a pastor, this is for you. A second qualifier is this… you have developed a small circle of fellows that you use as a idea shield. Some call this small circle… “my mighty men” as a take on what we find in 1 Chronicles 11:10 or 2 Samuel 23:8-39. Let me say…

Freedom
Today is a special day in my homeland… for more than one reason. First, it is my dear wife’s birthday. I love her and I am glad that we have been able to celebrate another birthday together on this earth. However, this post is mostly about the second reason for my post. This is July…

Nullified
Benched… disenfranchised… discouraged… ineffective… spiritually nullified – do you know the feeling? You probably know what I mean. If you do not, give thanks to the Lord above! However, for those of us who believe in and follow Jesus, this can sometimes be the reality that vexes our spiritual existence. How do you get in…

Buddy and a Box Full of Blessings
Last night was a great night at our Gathering. Our brother, Buddy Belew, brought the Word to us, speaking about the current state of the small “c” church in our nation. It was a bit heavy, but addressed some honest issues that many of us also see in the land that God has planted us…
