Last night, our diverse gathering group of believers honored a dear friend, Dr. Santhosh Abraham. Recently, he was honored by Union University as the “Carla D. Sanderson Faculty of the Year Award” recipient. Dr. Abraham is an associate professor of accounting at UU and this award is especially noteworthy because he has only been on their faculty for a few short years.
I have known Santhosh for a few years and I can testify that he is a Godly man, a strong example of educational excellence, and a compassionate member of the Christian community. He has also experienced a great deal of world travel connected to his life’s journey. This gives him a unique perspective since he has lived in and worked within multiple cultures. He has Indian heritage, but was born in Africa. He also lived in Scotland, Dubai, and another unusual place – New York! 🙂
Since I have known him, Dr. Abraham has helped the ministry that I serve in, CEF. He did this with his resources, his professional abilities, and his strong prayer life. Indeed, even his two boys (Joshua and Caleb) volunteered to help us share the Gospel through CEF activities and Bible clubs. I certainly cannot leave out his dear wife, Pheba. She too has been an encourager and a prayer warrior for the work we do to share Jesus with the children of West Tennessee. To add a very personal note about this family, while Dawn and I were recovering from our bout with COVID-19, Santhosh and Pheba brought us some wonderful Indian food, chicken biriyani. It was VERY tasty! They were one of a very few who took time to show us that type of compassion.
Below are a few photos of our gathering. This specific night, we heard from Dr. Abraham and a local pastor who is new to our group. Pastor Richard Bragg and his wife (April) joined us for the evening and Richard shared his heart through music and the Word. He did an awesome job talking about how God is willing and able to release us from the spiritual prisons that we may be thrown in – or even those we create for ourselves. As I finish this post, I would encourage you to expand your Oikos, your circle of friends and family. If you approach the idea with an open mind, you will be richly blessed… amen.
